Action week sand comp

Beach and sand sculptures 

We walked down to the beach in our house colours. The school has house colours and there are blue, red, green and yellow. It was on a monday just before school finish. We have house animals and blues house animal is a shark. 
  

With sand we made a big shark then it went to smaller sharks. The teachers gave us about 30 minutes to build the sharks. We came 3rd because green and red came 1st because they got 200 points. Our sharks were really big but not so detailed.

Kapa Haka

Kapa Haka Festival

This is our Kapa Haka festival 

 

My family arrived at school and got our kapa haka uniform on,   moko and really dark black lipstick on. We got to wait in room 4 until the bell  rang for us to go and do the roll. After the long roll we got in two lines and jumped on the bus. I sat by Lila, Aria and Betsy. We finally arrived after a big ride to the showgrounds.

We did one short practice before we went on stage. I felt so nervous that it was almost our turn. We were waiting by the stage for a long time because the other school was doing their Kapa Haka and they were good.

 I'm in the moana syndicate and that is the highest syndite. We ran on the stage. Everybody was clapping for us. Our kaia was Matiria. Our first song was e te ariki. 

E te Ariki was our best one we song because we were loud. The next song was the Haka. We were at the back and we sang really loud and that is good.  It was the girls turn and that is doing the poi.  Then we sang the best song that we are really good at and that is Wainui. Then when we left stage we watched some more schools, then it was the rest of our school. They were so good. At the end of theirs we went to the bottom of the stage and sang our school song.

What I felt like on Kapa Haka 

I thought the loud noise from our feet hitting the ground was big bites of hale falling from the sky. My friend and me were so nervous when we were on the stage. We we finished I felt relieved that we were finished. While we were waiting for our  Wai and Nui syndicate to be on and we watched babies and they were so cute and funny. 

 

  

Craft Fair!

Craft Fair !!!!!

 When the bell rang I went to Aria's house until the craft fair started. We went to her house and had some popcorn. We played some games then her mum said" it's time to go to the craft fair." We looked around then went on the bounce house at the craft fair. 

The bounce house was called the night ninja. It was an obstacle bounce house. It looked so fun. Me and Aria jumped on the bounce house and it was so loud. We jumped off and went and had a look around the stalls. 

The first stall I went to is room 13. They made stuff out out of string. It was so cool and I got one with a deer horne and it was only $10. Next I went to get some plants from room 11 and hair ties. Then at 5 me and Aria got some Nachos. Then we saw Matiria and started playing with her. I went and got a ocean theme thing from room 7. Then we started to go and play on the bounce house with Matiria. My mum was looking after the bounce house.  

   We had races on the bounce house and I won when I faced Matiria. We were playing for about an hour then it was 6 clock so we had an hour left and we went around all of the stalls and had some pony rides. It was so fun.

Athletics day

Athletics Day!

On Tuesday last week, my school had athletics day. We could dress up in our house colour. I’m in a blue house with one of my best friends. We went and watched the year 0-2 sprints. We were going over to do our long jump.  Long jump is my favourite.

Long Jump

I was the 4th in line for the long jump. It was only 1 minute and it was my turn. My teacher said “ ready set go and I was off. Running so fast then jumped over the gap and into the sandpit. I didn’t make it to inter school. Then we went onto sprints.

My year group but only the girls got put into lanes to race in. Ready set go, I ran as fast as I could but I only came 4th. That was good for me. Then I went into the tent and watched my friends. Another one of my best friends came 4th. My other friend came 1st. I was so nervous for the high jump, that was what we were doing next.  

High Jump

One of the teachers took us over to high jump. We all lined up behind the blue cone. I was so nervous because I was second in line. My dad came over to watch my high jump. My dad cheered me on and I think I did better than last year. I hit the pole so I went down a cone to the yellow cone. Then it was my turn and I made it, so I was so happy. But when It was my turn again I hit the pole so I was out for the high jump.  That made me so sad. I was so excited for the ball throw.

I was the first person in line for the ball throw so that made me so nervous. But I was so happy because I don’t like athletics day. It was my turn. Mine was good for never doing ball throw practice. But I got out straight away. 

In the morning I felt so scared for Athletics. At the end of the day I felt so happy for all the placings I came. Athletics was so fun and I still don’t like it.

Pihitia Station milking a cow

The Cow

We walked over to the cow station. We met the person that worked the cow station. Shatte said, " Do you want me to show you how to milk a cow?"Me and my friend asked" if we could have some whipped cream".  She said "yes". We saw some cheese that one of my friend's mum and dad makes. Some chocolate milk, milk, cream and we got to make butter. 

Here is a fact, if you put cream into a jar and shake, it will turn into butter. 

It was so fun!

Making my own bee bot track/ challenge

On Monday at school when class started Koka Jo came in the class and said today we are doing something with bee bots.  We were learning how to do a instructional writing and some one from your bzz group was with you as a buddy. 

We got our writing book and started writing our instructions. We could write left, right, forward and back. Each spot had to be 15 cms long. My buddy and me went outside and tried our instructions and they worked out great. I was feeling so happy that it worked. 

What are bee bots?

What are bee bots? Bee bots are called a bee bot and they have arrows that are left, right, back and forward and the bee bots have go and a x for reset. It is shaped like a bee and it is kind of  like a robot so I think that is why it is called a bee bot.  

I made a grid on the floor with some squares for the bee bot to go though. It went wrong 2 times then it went fine. I was so happy.  After we wrote our instructions Koka Jo, our teacher for the day checked our instructions.

My instructions were 2 forward, 1 left, 3 forward, 1 right, 3 forward 1 back, 1 left, 3 forward, 1 right and 2 back. Some people in my class were blaming the bees so never blame the bee bots.

Remember don't  blame the bee bots!

Tuahine lighthouse metaphor and writing!

The Moana syndicate walked along the beach to Tuahine lighthouse in term 2. It took us about 2 hours to get there and back. 

Lead the way for me means when boats are going along the water the lighthouse shows them the way. So they don't crash into rocks. 

Rm 4 made a metaphor of the Tuahine lighthouse and you did it by yourself. It was so fun. Some people are still making their lighthouse metaphor. The lighthouse is lighting up learning. My metaphor is shine your light and one more that I came up with and it is lead the way. I put it inside of Tuahine lighthouse. Here is my lighthouse metaphor.
