14 smooth grooves

14 smooth grooves!!!!!!

This week we have been planning to make smoothies!! At the start of the week, we got into groups of 3 or 2. My group named our smoothie Paradise fruit smoothie. Now would you like to find out more about what we did?

Planning the smoothies!!

This week we just have been making a recipe book of our SMOOTHIES. Our smoothie has a lot of fruit in it. We are doing this because the year six's are at camp. We had to plan who would bring in what, so we could make them. In the end, we just brought to school what we had at home. Then we made smoothies.

The Smoothie Day

People brought in nutribullets, and we got everything ready. After morning tea we got really ready, then group by group we made our smoothies. We filmed all the smoothies that we made, but you only had 5 minutes to make them if you wanted to film the whole thing.

Thank you for reading

No year 6s

 No Year 6s

We jumped in the ice cold pool but I wanted to stay in because...We got to play lots of fun games and have free time.  You are probably wondering why there were no year 6s. They were at Cooks Cove getting ready for camp. In the meantime we had no year 6s for the entire day. Koka Pip is such a fun teacher and the year 5s get to have her for the whole week and that include me! Soon there will be no year 6s for the entire week. Just one more week to go.

The year 5s that get to have a fun week.  Mostly year 5s are my friends but only some of them are in the Moana Learning Hub. When the year 6s were at cooks cove we started planning on what we were going to do when they are at camp. Koka Pip our teacher made us sit on the mat and think of stuff we can do when they are away and throw in some learning here and there. We are doing this because the year 6s get to have a fun time at camp, so should we! Next year the whole group of year 5s will be year 6s and at camp, and I'm really looking forward to it. Here is a list of things we are going to do when the years 6s are at camp.

List of things to do when the year 6s are at camp.

Maybe things we will do, mini matakai, movies, forts / tents, plays, milkshakes and smoothie, treasure hunts, baking, play & loads of other fun things that I can't remember.

That night there was a earthquake and that was strong and scary.

The Earthquake

Knock, knock, knock! Early Friday morning, I woke up to everything in my room banging on the wall and the light moving around because of an earthquake. I didn't know what to do because I had nothing in my room to get under. I was really scared.  But after the earthquake stopped, we went back to sleep because we live on a hill and if there was a tsunami it wouldn't reach us there. The earthquake happen around 2:30 in the early morning of Friday.

Overall, its been a crazy week. While, I was so scared  the night of the  earthquake. I'm excited for when the year 6s go to camp. It's going to be so much fun with just year 5s. The whole class is excited.

So far this year in term 1 2021

So far at school term 1

This year we have been doing lots of walks to places that are in our pepeha. We walked up the Maungaroa to the new light house. Also we walked to Hamanatua on the first week.  Today we are going to the marae. But we took a bus to the Marae.

Hamanatua

When we walked to the Hamanatua we walked along the small walk way. We took our bags with a drink bottle and a lunch box and hat, it was heavy. Then we cut across the wood bridge across the sand then went out side the Wainui surf club on the warm sand. We as the whole school put our bags down on the sand and played or chilled on the sand for 30 minutes and then after 35 minutes then we went and had brain break up by the surf club. After along time we walked back to school.

Maungaroa

It was a hot day when we walked up Maungaroa. It was a huge steep hill and it felt like forever when we walked up. There were big ponds that looked really deep and were so slimy and gooey. We had brain break and had a nice sea wind on as. It just got hotter and hotter when we got closer to the new light house. The ocean was nice and calm and that was a bad thing because we had not a lot of wind. Some people had no shoes on so it was hard for them to walk up without stepping on hard rocks or prickles and cow poo.  If you are wondering we are walking up our maunga / hill. From school the hill doesn't look so steep and then when you walk it is so steep. We had to walk all the way from school and the Nui syndicate got to have parents that drove them the the bottom and then the parents and little kids started to walked up. I almost ran out of water but lucky I didn't. We had a break but the break was not long.

Te Poho o Rawiri Marae

At lunch we jumped on the bus a went to Te Poho o Rawiri Marae.  The whole moana syndicate came to the marae. We got told a lot of stories about Te poho o rawiri marae. Te poho o rawiri has been in 3 places. The spot it is on now they own the land. We learnt songs about the marae. Every second year the moana syndicate stays a night at the marae.  The things that Aunty Baba told us were interesting things.

Out of all the activities my favourite was probably Hamanatua or Maungaroa.  Hamanatua was fun because it was close to school and it wasn't  such a hot day. Also we got to eat up at the Wainui surf club. The Maungaroa was fun because we got to have food there as well  but it wasn't as good because it was really hot. I hope you enjoyed reading about walking our school pepeha.
