So far this year in term 1 2021

So far at school term 1

This year we have been doing lots of walks to places that are in our pepeha. We walked up the Maungaroa to the new light house. Also we walked to Hamanatua on the first week.  Today we are going to the marae. But we took a bus to the Marae.

Hamanatua

When we walked to the Hamanatua we walked along the small walk way. We took our bags with a drink bottle and a lunch box and hat, it was heavy. Then we cut across the wood bridge across the sand then went out side the Wainui surf club on the warm sand. We as the whole school put our bags down on the sand and played or chilled on the sand for 30 minutes and then after 35 minutes then we went and had brain break up by the surf club. After along time we walked back to school.

Maungaroa

It was a hot day when we walked up Maungaroa. It was a huge steep hill and it felt like forever when we walked up. There were big ponds that looked really deep and were so slimy and gooey. We had brain break and had a nice sea wind on as. It just got hotter and hotter when we got closer to the new light house. The ocean was nice and calm and that was a bad thing because we had not a lot of wind. Some people had no shoes on so it was hard for them to walk up without stepping on hard rocks or prickles and cow poo.  If you are wondering we are walking up our maunga / hill. From school the hill doesn't look so steep and then when you walk it is so steep. We had to walk all the way from school and the Nui syndicate got to have parents that drove them the the bottom and then the parents and little kids started to walked up. I almost ran out of water but lucky I didn't. We had a break but the break was not long.

Te Poho o Rawiri Marae

At lunch we jumped on the bus a went to Te Poho o Rawiri Marae.  The whole moana syndicate came to the marae. We got told a lot of stories about Te poho o rawiri marae. Te poho o rawiri has been in 3 places. The spot it is on now they own the land. We learnt songs about the marae. Every second year the moana syndicate stays a night at the marae.  The things that Aunty Baba told us were interesting things.

Out of all the activities my favourite was probably Hamanatua or Maungaroa.  Hamanatua was fun because it was close to school and it wasn't  such a hot day. Also we got to eat up at the Wainui surf club. The Maungaroa was fun because we got to have food there as well  but it wasn't as good because it was really hot. I hope you enjoyed reading about walking our school pepeha.
